Food Hygiene Policy
All menu items that you sell on the Tiffin Time Platform must comply with your Agreement with Tiffin Time, all applicable laws, and Tiffin Time policies. Tiffin Time may suspend the provision of its services if you are found to be in material breach of these obligations.
Purpose: Customer safety is our top priority, and we expect the same commitment from all Tiffin Providers. Maintaining stringent food hygiene processes is essential to ensure customer safety and satisfaction. This policy outlines the food hygiene and safety standards that must be met in order to sell products through the Tiffin Time Platform.
What we expect from our Tiffin Providers: You are responsible for ensuring that the food you prepare and sell is safe, traceable, and compliant with all applicable UK food safety laws. If you are uncertain about any legal requirement, please consult an expert. You can also refer to the Food Standards Agency’s "Food Hygiene for Your Business" guidance and "Safer Food, Better Business" resources.
All providers must have a food safety management system in place, addressing the following areas:
HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points);
Cross-contamination prevention;
Allergen control and labelling;
Cleaning and waste management;
Equipment and premises maintenance;
Chilling, defrosting, freezing, cooking, reheating;
Temperature control (chilled and hot holding);
Personal hygiene and fitness to work;
Pest control procedures;
COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health);
Safe and suitable takeaway packaging;
Staff training and records;
Supplier assurance and ingredient traceability;
Internal monitoring and auditing;
Product recall and withdrawal procedures.
Minimum Hygiene Standard: All Providers must maintain a valid Food Hygiene Rating of 3 or above. Providers with a lower rating will not be permitted to register or continue offering services on the Platform until the standard is met.
Compliance Monitoring: Tiffin Time may request documentation or conduct spot checks to verify ongoing compliance with this policy. Failure to comply may result in temporary suspension or permanent removal from the Platform.
